Weekend Upsets

As we thought that we cannot have any more major upsets at AO, Mischa Zverev took out number one seed Andy Murray in the round of 16. With serve and volley game plan he messed up Murray’s rhythm and won in 4 sets 5-7, 7-5, 6-2 and 6-4.

I am not sure if can say that Federer beating Nishikori was an upset, but on paper and also on court it for sure looked like it. We were yet again able to see vintage Roger playing some of his best tennis and maestro justified his place in QF. The score was quite spectacular 5 set match, 6-7, 6-4, 6-1, 4-6 and 6-3.

On WTA side number one seed and defending champion Kerber was somehow destroyed by American Coco Vandeweghe 2-6 and 3-6, therefore giving Serena a chance to take over number one spot again.

More sleepless nights for those who are watching tennis in California 🙂 Tune in for more updates soon.
