Brisbane over the last week has been home to some of the best ATP and WTA players in the world. We got a surprise winner on the men’s side, Grigor Dimitrov who won his first title in nearly two and a half years. In the finals he beat Kei Nishikori 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.
WTA title goes to Pliskova
On the women's side Karolina Pliskova claimed singles title with a straight-sets victory over Alize Cornet with 6-3, 6-0. She has proven that she can beat anyone on the tour. At this first tournament of 2017 she has only dropped one set. Also important to note is that she is starting 2017 with new coach David Kotyza. Next week Pliskova is competing in Sydney and the week after at Australian Open in Melbourne.
